STAFF REPORTS

June 25. 2009 11:51AM
The Harrisburg Showplace amateur baseball team added a win and a loss to its record last week, as well as having one game postponed because of rain.
Canova
Showplace traveled to Canova on Sunday and despite some nice hitting was unable to stop Canova from taking an 11-3 win.

Nick Ramstad had three hits for Showplace and Kory Petoske, Armando Rodriguez, Scott Backes and Jon Faris each had two hits.

The bats were there but the runs just didn’t come, said coach Jim Stoebner.

“We had 14 hits but were only able to score three runs. We just could not get the big hit at the right time,” said Stoebner.

Courie Weber started on the mound for Showplace and pitched well for four innings. He was followed by Aaron Puckett, Tim Zimmer and Kory Petoske.

Canistota

Showplace was back at home in Harrisburg on Thursday to take on Canistota. Showplace took a big 13-3 win in seven innings.

The game started out slow for Showplace but it picked up the pace as the game went on, scoring all their runs in the last four innings, Stoebner said.

Rodriguez went the distance on the mound for Harrisburg. Ramstad and Brian Stoebner each had three hits, with one of Brian Stoebner’s being a double. Weber, Matt Ramstad and Faris each added two hits in the win.

The team’s next home game is Thursday against Dell Rapids PBR. Games start at 7:30 p.m.
Colman
Showplace was in Sioux Falls on June 17 to take on Colman in the Bird Cage, the Sioux Falls Canaries stadium.

Rain forced the game to be called after three innings with Showplace up 5-1. The game will be finished in Harrisburg at a later date.
